Get Off the Worry Cycle with These Strategies

anxious big emotions emotional regulation worry Mar 13, 2025

Hey there friends,

When your child is worried, overwhelmed, or spiraling, what’s your first response?

It’s tough because worry can take over their mind, making it hard to think clearly or even listen to reason. You try to reassure them, but sometimes they just push back—insisting on worst-case scenarios, refusing to talk, or melting down.

The truth is, when kids are caught up in worry, their hearts and minds aren’t in a place to problem-solve or receive truth yet. They first need to attune their heart—and that’s where we as parents play a huge role.

That’s why I made this week's video:

In this video, I’ll walk you through:
âś… How we need to connect first with our kids
âś… 4 categories of calming strarties to help your child attune their heart
âś… A step-by-step plan to help your child discover their calming strategies

When we help our kids calm their emotions first, we create space for real conversations and godly wisdom to take root. We’re not just managing their fears—we’re teaching them how to process worry in a way that draws them closer to God.

I’d love to hear from you—what’s been your biggest challenge in helping your child calm down when they’re anxious? Let me know in the comments!

Then go watch this week's video.  You'll be so glad you did.

All my best,

B.J.

P.S. If you know another parent who struggles with this, would you share this video with them? We’re all in this together!
