Your child needs expectations AND understanding

Hey friends,

Have you ever asked your child to do something, only to find yourself repeating the same instruction two, three, or even more times before they finally respond?

It's frustrating. And sometimes we end up raising our voices just to get their attention.

But here's something worth considering: Have we unintentionally taught our kids that the first few times we ask don't really count? That they don't actually need to respond until Mom or Dad gets serious?

Of course, teaching our kids to take responsibility and respond to reasonable instructions is important. But so is helping them learn to manage disappointment, frustration, and all the other emotions that come along with growing up.

I think we sometimes make those two things compete with each other when they really need to work together.

That's what I explore in my latest video. We need to hold appropriate expectations for our kids while also helping them develop the emotional maturity to meet those expectations.

So check it out today. You'll be so glad that you did.

All my best,

B.J.
