Your Child Doesn't Need Another Lecture
Oct 16, 2026Hey friends,
I think most of us have had this experience. Our child does something wrong, and we sit down to talk about it. We explain what they did and why it was wrong. We want them to understand. We want them to learn from it and make a better choice next time.
And then, a few days later, we're having almost the exact same conversation again.
It's frustrating, especially when you feel like you've already explained this a dozen times.
But I've been thinking about how much of our correction focuses on helping kids understand what they did wrong, and how little time we sometimes spend helping them figure out what to do differently.
In my newest video, I share three questions you can ask your child after something goes wrong. They're simple questions, but they can help move a conversation beyond pointing out the problem and toward taking responsibility and growing.
This isn't about avoiding correction or letting things slide but instead about making our correction useful, so our kids have a clearer picture of what they can do differently next time.
So check out the video. You'll be so glad that you did.
All my best,
B.J.
